In a statement, rally organizers said:

“Turkey currently is facing an existential threat from a minority who are determined to undermine the will of the Turkish people and have attempted to overthrow the democratically elected government.

This is not only a threat to the people of Turkey who are rightly proud of their democracy and their democratic right to chose their own government, but is also an attempt to undermine the patriotic Armed Forces of Turkey who have made clear that they stand with the will of the people and the democratically elected government.

The people of Turkey have made their voice already heard by going to the streets in vast numbers to protest against those that want to silence their democratic choice and voice.

We welcome the support shown by the international community, including the US and EU, for Turkey’s democracy and its democratically elected institutions and leadership. Turkey as a member of NATO and a responsible member of the international community is steadfast in its mission to aid peace and stability in the region and the wider world. For Turkey to be able to do that, it is vital that it continues to be a stable and functioning democracy, as a bridge between civilizations.”
